Moose Safaris

‘Moose Safaris’, also called ‘Wildlife Safaris’ because guests see more than just moose, are simply wonderful.

With advanced notice, we will arrange for an experienced Maine Guide to pick you up from the inn and take you to a remote lake where canoes await you. Paddle amid the peaceful, pristine waters in search of moose, bear, beaver, deer, loons, bald eagles, etc.). These trips leave early in the morning or late in the afternoon.  Just let us know what date and time of day you would prefer. This service is for guests of the inn only.

Cost: $375/couple + $50 for each additional person.

Your Registered Maine Guide will pick you up from the inn for your Private Moose Safari before sunrise, returning to the inn just in time for a full breakfast. Or, if you’d prefer an afternoon safari, your guide will pick you up before sunset and return to the inn four hours later. The morning and afternoon departure times change to match sunrise and sunset times. Advance reservations are highly suggested. 30 day cancellation notice is required.

Canoes or boats not your thing?  Consider a ‘Moose Safari’ by vehicle.  They operate the same as a ‘moose safari’ but our guides will drive you into the back woods in search of this gentle giant instead of a water safari.  Again, advance reservations strongly suggested.

Take to the skies in a float plane!  There are several FAA approved charter services with pilots ready to take you on breathtaking tours of Moosehead Lake.  Get a bird’s eye view of this beautiful and majestic lake & mountain region while always keeping an eye out for moose! Seaplane reservations can not be made in advance but we can help you once you are here.

Drive yourself to various spots (we’ll tell you where) that offer excellent  chances to view moose from the comfort of your own car! Dusk and dawn offer the best moose sighting opportunities!
